We Service Every Major Brand

Multi-point systems come in two halves: the hardware inside the door, and the door it was built into. We work on both, and the combination is what decides whether a repair is possible.

What Is A Multi-Point Lock?

A multi-point lock is a single mechanism that engages two, three, or more locking points along the edge of the door when you turn the handle or the key. Instead of one deadbolt, the door bolts into the frame at the top, middle, and bottom all at once.

This is the standard on most European-style doors, impact-rated hurricane doors, and premium sliding patio doors in South Florida. If you own a newer build or a home with impact glass, there's a very good chance your front door or slider has one.

How to check if you have one:

  • check_circleLook at the edge of your door. Do you see two or more bolts/hooks along the side?
  • check_circleDoes lifting the handle up engage extra bolts before you can turn the key?
  • check_circleIs the door impact-rated or marked "hurricane" hardware?
  • check_circleDid your home come with PGT, Andersen, or similar name-brand windows/doors?

Yes to any of the above? We're who you want to call.

A Real Multi-Point Job

Three other locksmiths quoted this Pinecrest homeowner and none of them would commit to the repair. Here is what happened when we looked at it.

"Wow! This company is the most professional and knowledgeable i have ever experienced. My technician was Armando and he was the best. There are no run arounds given. He knows his stuff. I went through more than 3 locksmiths before to try to fix my glass impact patio doors and all the wanted was to charge me an arm and a leg plus they were uncertain on how to fix it. This company tells you straight up if they can fix or replace with confidence. They are a one call fix company. Will definitely use again and will recommend them to everyone."

Outcome

Repaired, not replaced

This is the job most locksmiths in Miami turn down. Hoppe hardware on an impact-rated patio door needs the right gearbox and the right measurements. We carry the parts and we will tell you up front whether it is a repair or a replacement.

Repair Or Replace?

We'll tell you straight. Here's how we think about it.

handyman

Repair It If…

  • ·The lock is under 10 years old
  • ·It's just misaligned or binding
  • ·The gearbox or cylinder alone is bad
  • ·Replacement parts are still available for your brand
swap_horiz

Replace It If…

  • ·Hardware is discontinued and parts are unavailable
  • ·Door was forced and the lock is structurally damaged
  • ·You want to upgrade security (smart lock, keyless)
  • ·Multiple components have failed at once

Multi-Point Questions

The things people ask us before booking a multi-point repair.

What is a multi-point lock? add_circle

A multi-point lock is a single mechanism that engages two, three, or more locking points along the edge of the door when you turn the handle or key. Instead of one deadbolt, the door bolts into the frame at the top, middle, and bottom all at once. It's standard on European-style doors, impact-rated hurricane doors, and premium sliding patio doors common in South Florida.

Which brands of multi-point hardware do you service? add_circle

We service Hoppe, Amesbury Truth, Interlock, G-U, and Adams Rite multi-point hardware, on PGT, CGI, Andersen, Marvin, Pella, Milgard, Therma-Tru, Jeld-Wen, Fleetwood, SIW, Weather Shield, and Kolbe doors, plus most European multi-point systems. Call us with your door brand and we'll confirm.

My Hoppe multi-point handle is loose and floppy. Can you fix it? add_circle

Yes. A loose or floppy handle almost always means the internal gearbox is worn. We carry gearbox replacements and can swap it on-site, often in under an hour, without removing the door.

Can you replace just the gearbox, or does the whole lock need to be replaced? add_circle

In most cases we can replace just the gearbox or cylinder. Full multi-point replacement is only needed when the hardware is discontinued, the door was forced, or multiple components have failed at once. We'll give you the honest call when we see it.

My PGT sliding door won't lock. What's wrong? add_circle

Most PGT sliders fail because of a worn hook, bent track, or misaligned strike plate. All three are fixable on-site. We don't need to remove the slider.

How long does a multi-point lock repair take? add_circle

Most adjustments and gearbox swaps take under an hour. A full replacement on an impact-rated door takes one to two hours depending on the hardware and whether parts are in stock on the truck.
